Harassment

Ever since the release of our article League Update: On recent events, we have maintained our position regarding how we treat the severity of harassment cases to a serious degree. Ever since those events, we have received an influx of reports being sent in every week that we will continue to investigate and look over. It is undeniable that this type of behavior is not only unacceptable, but should not be tolerated in our community in any capacity. It should be noted that when looking at these cases, repeated or egregious behavior play important roles in evaluating the severity of each of these cases. Our goal in RGL has always been to maintain a passionate community that can have sympathy, tolerance, and feel safe while playing their favorite game.

RGL does not condone the egregious behavior and actions of players (both past and present) that may subsequently deter players from playing in our organization. We believe in fading out this type of behavior from our community.

An example of us continuing to evaluate reports is listed below:

  • yoona – Breaking RGL's player conduct stance by consistent player harassment, admin harassment, racist, homophobic, and transphobic language. Multiple bans in the past month. This is an indefinite ban with a minimum period of 2 years.
  • Scratchh – Breaking RGL's player conduct stance by consistent player harassment, racist, homophobic, transphobic language, and death threats. - This is an indefinite ban with a minimum period of 1 year.
  • telephone fan – Breaking RGL's player conduct stance by consistent player harassment, racist, transphobic language, and death threats. This is an indefinite ban with a minimum period of 1 year.
  • MR funny alien – Breaking RGL's player conduct stance by consistent player harassment, racist language, and death threats. This is an indefinite ban with a minimum period of 1 year.

After the minimum period has been served, the player can appeal to have the ban lifted if they can show that they've improved themselves and how they interact within the community.

The following individuals have overwhelming evidence pointing to a history of involvement/organizing of harassment and continuous usage of slurs/hate speech. This is supplied with usually supporting violence, doxing, DDOSing, hacking, continuous social media, or in-game harassment:

The above players will have no set minimum period and can appeal their ban immediately.

The following player has been suspended for 3 months for their usage of slurs on multiple RGL platforms and harassment of players in RGL:

Other

The following players have/had been suspended for 2-5 weeks for their usage of racist slurs, homophobic language, or derogatory language on our platforms. Repeat offenders will get longer ban lengths.

Vac Bans

The following 120 accounts have been banned for VAC bans that may have possibly affected TF2.

Spreadsheet

If you have a VAC ban for a game that is not TF2, please contact an admin to get the ban removed.

You can read further details and context about each of the player's bans by viewing their discipline history on their RGL profile.

Bans List

We now have a public bans list that you can view here.

Appeals Form

This form will be for appealing indefinite bans in RGL.gg.

Indefinite bans are a new penalty system that we are rolling out regarding more serious or repeated behavioral bans. Once that minimum sentence has elapsed, the player can appeal by contacting an RGL admin to have their ban/suspension re-evaluated and removed. The idea with this is that for a player to come back, they need to affirm that their behavior has changed for the better.

Sportsmanship & Spirit

In RGL, it is apparent that we want highly derogatory terms and persistent harassment to fade out within our community. When players are subjected to this unwarranted hostility, it clearly has many ill-effects that can push players out or make them feel unwelcome in our league. Additionally, in a league that is constantly trying to grow and develop, the ability to obtain sponsors is a key aspect that the organization has sought out after. It does not bode well, when your top players are engaging in this behavior, which is why we have unequivocally pushed for larger punishments on our Invite players, since they often participate in casted matches and represent the league in which they play in.

Our rules on what comments are on-platform versus off-platform is made very clearly here:

As such, this is a reminder to all players and teams of RGL's ruling on such behavior. It has always been in our best interest to have clearer outlines on our stance regarding toxicity and harassment. Above anything, we strive for a good-natured competitive environment and urge our players to help us achieve that in the best way possible.

If you are a player and want to report this behavior, please contact an admin on our Discord. It should be strongly noted that witch hunting is not condoned in any capacity by the administration team and may lead to punitive action.

Lastly, we would like to thank all the players that have contacted the staff team regarding this type of behavior and helping RGL strive to be a healthier and safer competitive environment for everyone.

RGL Global Ruleset

We have been working on the RGL Global Ruleset for the past several months. The idea is to have consistency among the overarching rules that govern all the formats and regions under RGL, which serves to ensure that not only are the staff are on the same page, but that there are no discrepancies regarding cases that may happen in different formats. Format-specific rules for Highlander, Prolander and No Restriction 6s will be completed closer to their season starts.

You can view the ruleset now here.
