What is Pick/Ban Prolander?

Prolander

It’s a new competitive gamemode for tf2. Each team has seven players on it, but you can only have one of each class. Meaning that it’s up to the players to mix and match their class selection to help out their team and counter the enemy.

If the opposing team is running a Sniper, Engineer, and Heavy on defense. Choosing to be a Spy could help your team out by going for those picks and keeping the sentry gun down.
Is the enemy Spy getting too many backstabs and taking out your buildings. Try going Pyro to help protect your team.

The fact there are only 7 of the 9 classes being played at any given moment means you have to actively think about what classes are best for that situation.

Pick/Ban

On top of this, for the RGL.gg league. Prior to the competitive matches, teams will go through a process of picking and banning what weapons will be used during the match. Adding another layer of strategy.

Does the enemy team has a good Soldier? Ban the Gun Boats so he takes more damage when rocket jumping.
Does their Scout have really good aim? Ban the Crit-a-Cola to stop that extra damage.
A pesky Spy that won’t die? Ban the Dead Ringer to make him work harder.

Every pick and ban you make, could potentially give your team the winning edge. By the end of the process, players will have selected 10 weapons to be banned. Meaning that every match you play, will have a slightly different playstyle from the last.

Maps

Matches are played on either payload (pl_) or king of the hill (koth_) maps. This allows you to play your old favorites in a new way. Prolander is kind of like a faster paced pub match, but with more strategy and more teamwork.
