RGL HL Region Wars Teams

   Micahlele   - 8/28/2019

Region Wars Site

Welcome to the first ever RGL Region Wars. Region Wars was an offseason event started by UGC which put different regions of the world against each other in an all-out highlander tournament. This time around however, RGL is hosting and there will be two divisions to give lower level players the opportunity to compete. The regions that will be duking it this time around are: Northeast, Canada (Div-2 Only), Southwest, South, Midwest, and Europe. Pacific-Northwest could not field enough players, so they will not be participating. Let’s get into the rosters, starting with Div-1.

Div-1

Northeast

durr
tgw
SpaceGhostsCoffee
sandblast
carcin
scratchy
zuchima
Fallen Gourd
Madringme

I have feared durr’s Baby Face’s Blaster ever since I saw that man drop 50 frags with it. He farms, enough said. tgw is a solid soldier to compliment durr. Carcin will be the tarantula heavy and will somehow spawn camp three people before he dies and will be possibly the strongest heavy in this cup. Fallen and Mad are fantastic pick classes, getting third and second respectively in the most recent highlander season. They will undoubtedly get tons of key kills that will lead the team to success.

Southwest

pablo
?
HA Johhny
Arzt Hispanian
RonnieJ
wax
chinatown
lenny
manbug

The Southwest takes the experienced friends of Arzt Hispanian and RonnieJ, adding in an equally as experienced Medic with chinatown for a top invite combo. Lenny and manbug make for great pick classes, even with both not maining for at least two seasons. Pablo has proved time and time again to be an absolute beast on scout, recently winning scout of the season and best player overall in the RGL Awards Show. If wax can find a good soldier to support him, their flank can compete with the best of the best.

South

crabf
lizar
Hunter
Bowl
Kresnik
flu walrus
Moose
triiple
shotaway

Coming from the south, Bowl has shown time and time again why he is one of the best highlander demos currently playing. When he plays seriously, his main calling is top notch, and his 1st place finish with KND season 2 proves it. Kresnik will be a great compliment to Bowl’s aggression, while also being able to keep Moose alive. crabf and lizar are a great flank, but when put against flanks like rain and jaay, they may struggle to keep their ground secured. triiple is a fantastic hitscan player all around, and shotaway will be a spy to keep an eye on. Hunter is a fantastic pyro, easily being a top 3 choice and a great protector for Moose.

Midwest

rain
jaay
mirrorman
speedy
civ
witness
Daffodil
yosh
Dimento

Midwest easily has one of the best flanks, with rain being an excellent fill on any hitscan class, and jaay being and absolute monster of a player on soldier, further proved by Ascent’s 2nd place finish at Insomnia 65. Speedy, civ, and Daffodil make for a great combo to support the room their flank will be able to make. Even though yosh hasn’t been actively sniping like some of the other snipers playing, he still has shown that he’s a force to be reckoned with in the past. Dimento is obviously a fantastic spy, performing at the top level for a long time, most recently taking 1st for the second time in invite with his team, Kids Next Door.

Europe

dReamyyy
Jackylegs
yahoo
Elacour
pozker
Clark
degu
CazaroC
mezzo

Europe is bringing the best of the best with it to Region Wars, having many players from “Super Dickmann’s KANNONEN!”, a several time placement ETF2L team in the main roster. Jackylegs may not have his normal scout partner Mayh, dReamyyy is more than capable of filling his shoes. Most of the SDCK is used to having SandBurn as their demo, but Elacour is a great replacement and should have no problem taking the reigns and taking control of the team. CazaroC and mezzo is some of the best pick classes Europe has to offer and should have no problem competing with the rest of NA, even with the ping disadvantage.

Power Rankings (Div-1):

1: Midwest
2: Southwest
3: Europe
4: South
5: Northeast

Div-2

Canada

gobitoe
jetz
Lucki
Kinetic
Cooookie
Dez
Pierre
Powerpuker
illum

Overall the Canadian roster looks weak overall. kinetic and jetz are the star players of this team, with kinetic recently winning advanced and jetz being an established invite player in highlander, albeit on sniper. The rest of the roster however hasn’t played at the level of the other regions playing in Div-2 and falls flat when it comes to the other departments.

Northeast

Lehcs
Mono72
5perm or Aeon
perenne
Luigi
michael or grynn
Hino
Spu
Jebus

The Northeast roster brings with it a sniper to possibly contest the likes of Poseidon with Spu, and a decent combo to boot. perenne and Luigi have played their respective classes at a decent level before, but the question lies in the dominant voice with the team. If Mono72 brings his notorious loud comms to the field, it could spell disaster for any coordination the Northeast has.

Southwest

Blank
hotwax
fordo
Jones
Chocc
Starfruit66
tj
Shim
Theoretical Spy

Jones and Chocc make for a strong combo and will most likely be the backbone of the Southwest roster. Blank may be able to come through like he did in the Bruh Team vs many brandons semifinals match, but otherwise has been very inconsistent in his performances.

South

asher
Catalyst
Charizard
dog
Moist Master
bliztank
Zoomxze
Poseidon
Vizie

The South will rise again. dog and Moist Master make for a great combo, with dog having incredible DM, and Moist Master recently winning advanced after placing in it the previous season.
Poseidon’s sniping ability is top notch, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he was sniping in Div-1. I have no doubt in the South’s ability to completely roll Div-2, on all fronts. I’ll say again, the South will rise again.

Midwest

J_peg
Teli
Snoodles
panther
Sebbers
Tuba God
General Nick
Markers
Dave

While it’s weird not seeing the advanced pantherr on his main, his other talents won’t be wasted as he’ll be the backbone and main caller for the Midwest as Demo. He’ll be the leading force working off the picks that Markers and Dave will supply him. With all the room they make, it will allow recent Main winner J_peg and Advanced Multiclasser Teli to apply pressure to both the flank and combo.

Europe

?
tuja
Strno8
Tercio
barthiz
Doom
Jorge
Stinghan
Adje

While the exact roster of the Div-2 Europe team is unknown, I put together a rough guess of what it will look like come match time with the players they have rostered. Overall it looks like a solid team, with Stinghan always being a force to be reckoned with on sniper, and Tercio having great DM compared to some of the other demos playing. With what they have, it looks to be a solid team, possibly even contesting the top 2 position.

Power Rankings (Div-2):

1: South
2: Europe
3: Midwest
4: Southwest
5: Northeast
6: Canada
