RGL HL Season 1: Playoffs and Tiebreaker Scores

   exa   - 10/23/2018
Welcome everyone to the first ever postseason for RGL Highlander for Advanced, Main, Intermediate, Open, and soon Invite.

We would like to congratulate all the teams that have made it to the first round of playoffs and hope that everyone has enjoyed their season so far.

All divisions will have playoffs and will use the Map Elimination system. All playoff teams are expected to finish their map pick/bans by Friday at 8:30 EST. If a team is unresponsive and does not finish their bans by the scheduled date, then the other team will do the pick/bans for the other team in match comms.

An admin will continue to monitor match comms to ensure this map pick/ban system is running smoothly in case a team is not responsive.

Regarding the recent Intermediate happenings, it should be noted that we know fully well what is occurring. The concept of our division guidelines was created early during the season, when we were trying to formulate the skill level of each division. We understand that not every team may have been placed in their correct division and we have been already working to better correct this for the next season, when we have much more concrete data (e.g. performance in RGL Season 1) to work with, as well as potentially using preseason cups, and bettering the application process in order to ensure that a team is fit for a particular division. It should be noted that with the round-robin format, it made it difficult for us to move any teams up, due to the division size limit. On that note, we also are already looking into creating a system to enforce these division guidelines as well as looking into solutions to address players outside of North America playing in this region. It should be mentioned that we pay attention to all the feedback and discussions that you have whether it is in direct messages, in our feedback channel in Discord, or what players say through voice chat. This will all be taken into consideration when we transition into Season 2 and better ensure that the issues that were present our first season (such as sandbagging) are addressed.

The structure of each division’s playoffs will be explained further below.
