First season and the future of RGL

   VoxDei   - 5/25/2017
Hey everyone, we wanted to take some time to go over the logistics of the league and our goals for the future. Transparency is what we do here, so let's lay it all out on the line.

We're absolutely ecstatic with the amount of registrations we've received and are excited to keep the good times rolling. We're extending the registration discount out until Sunday May 28th. Be sure to register now to cash in on that sweet discount. Registration for our Solo Queue league ends on June 5th, with Team Registration ending shortly after on June 9th. Get your teams ready!

First, let's talk about this season. We've officially confirmed our prize pools for the Competitive Divisions. Check out the table below to see how much you can win.

 Comp HighComp Low
1st$1400$350
2nd$800$275
3rd$450$225
4th$350$150

Along with that, we're expecting about 4-6 teams for each of our Competitive divisions (High + Low) and 7-10 teams for the Rec leagues. Come prepared for some heavy competition for your first place prize.

We also want to take some time to explain Free Agents. Think of Free Agents as mercenaries, willing to play in a pinch. Free Agents are registered players that can sub in for different teams within their division, without paying the team join fee.

This is an opportunity for people who want to play, but don't want to sign up full time with a team, which is where it differs from classic substitution.

Free Agents can sub into matches that are in their registered division and be gone for the next match.
We have some stipulations that are involved with Free Agency, including division changes, match-limit restrictions, etc., so view our FAQ below for more specific information.

With this in mind, we recommend that you sign up as a Free Agent sooner than later so you pay the discounted price.

So with all that in mind, let's get a little more undefined and talk about the future of the league.
We want to leave ourselves open for experimentation and changes that as we and the community see fit during the off season.
The rulebook is meant to be adaptive, so during each off season, we plan to take a look back and have a willingness to make changes to the ruleset. Everything is up for grabs here- the default whitelist, changes to the pick/ban system, and even the amount of players. We really don't want to leave anything out.

Theories are great, but evidence is better, so these rule changes would be tested through events throughout the off season from our players so we can see them in action prior to committing to them.

Prize pools have been secured for the first three seasons of RGL! We're happy to be a part of the TF2 scene and invite you to become part of our healthy and competitive community at RGL.

If you've seen all of this and still aren't sure if RGL is worth a shot, why not stop by and play a Pug with us? Check out pick up game discord or host your own lobby on TF2Stadium.
